Smart phones offer navigation as well, but it also uses up data. You may not get free lifetime updates, but how often do you see new roads being built that you may never travel on? Plus it may take a year or two to have that road added anyway. No cords hanging down messing up the look of your interior. No suction cup mark on the windshield if you do remove the Garmin still indicating to a thief that there may be one just hiding in the car. Nothing hanging off your windshield for someone to break in and steal. Dead reckoning so if you're in a tunnel it will still work. Of course the nav is worth it! It's built in and always on.
